The Butterfly and Moth Bond grants its wielder unparalleled control over space, motion, and ephemeral light. Those linked to these delicate yet otherworldly creatures can slip between moments, fold distance into ribbons, and vanish like drifting motes on the wind. Their magic is characterized by fluttering movement, soft luminescence, and unpredictable distortions of reality.
Butterfly/Moth casters are elusive, evasive, and impossibly hard to pin down—ideal for scouts, infiltrators, escape artists, and anyone who prefers finesse over brute force.
Abilities Granted by the Butterfly & Moth Bond
Blink – Teleport to any spot within a short radius.
Anchor – Imbue a specific location to mark it for future teleportation.
Swap – Instantly change places with your bonded butterfly or moth.
Teleport – Instantly teleport to an anchored position.
Portal – Create a person-sized portal for a short duration linking to an anchored position.
Shift – Return to a previous spot within a short timeframe.
Gate – Create a large but short-lived portal leading to an anchored position.
Push – Send an object instantly to an anchored position.
Warp – Send a creature to an anchored position.
Flicker Trap – Imbue an item that teleports whoever touches it to an anchored position.
Afterimage – Leave behind illusionary afterimages that confuse and mislead foes.
Phase – Partially step out of reality, becoming difficult to strike for a brief time.
Send – Make a target incorporeal, preventing them from physically interacting with anything for a short duration.
Fraywing Burst – Release a burst of glittering dust that blinds enemies briefly.
Fading Touch – Touch a creature, granting them a single-use Blink within the next round.
Dimensional Fold – Briefly collapse space to allow you and allies to walk a few steps that cover great distance.
Sunderstep – Blink with violent spatial distortion, knocking back creatures near both departure and arrival points.

- If your bonded butterfly or moth is unable to occupy your space (due to terrain or obstruction), this ability fails with no effect.

- Imbue a single unoccupied space you are touching with a shimmering wing-mark, designating it as an Anchor point.
- You may have only one active Anchor at a time. Creating a new Anchor removes the previous one.
- The Anchor remains for up to 24 hours, or until you take a Long Rest.
- The Anchored space must remain unoccupied to be a valid teleport destination.

- If your Anchor is no longer valid, this ability fails with no effect.

- The portal links directly to your active Anchor.
- For the next 2 rounds, any creature may move through the portal, emerging into the Anchored space.
- Moving through the portal counts as movement and ignores Difficult Terrain.
- The Anchored space must remain unoccupied to receive creatures exiting the portal.
- If the Anchor becomes invalid or is removed, the portal immediately collapses.
- You cannot create a portal if you do not have an active Anchor.

- Create a large, shimmering gate in a single unoccupied space you are touching.
- The gate links directly to your active Anchor.
- For the next 1 round, any number of creatures may pass through the gate, emerging into the Anchored space in an order of their choosing.
- Creatures of up to Large size may pass through the gate, at the GM’s discretion.
- Moving through the gate counts as movement and ignores Difficult Terrain.
- The Anchored space must remain unoccupied and valid to receive creatures.
- If the Anchor becomes invalid or is removed, the gate immediately collapses.
- You cannot create a gate if you do not have an active Anchor.
